The history of the Pierre Ducan diet is very interesting. The French neurologist had a friend who could not lose weight and asked him for help. Pierre did not specialize in nutrition at the time, so he did not want to agree for a long time. In addition, his friend had a condition - he agreed to any restrictions, but leave the meat in the diet.
Therefore, the doctor suggested eating only meat and drinking 2 liters of water for five days. And surprisingly, the man managed to lose 5 kilograms in this way. It was decided to continue the diet. Over the next five days, the person lost another 3 kilograms, and on the tenth day began to add vegetables to the diet. Thus, the idea of the famous Ducan Diet suddenly appeared. The essence of the diet is to consume the maximum amount of protein. 100 types of products based on natural products (72 of animal and 28 plant origin) allow you to eat in unlimited quantities.
Ducan argued that high amounts of protein in the diet help normalize weight. After all, protein is low in calories, and when digested, the body uses more energy than it consumes carbohydrates. As a result, fat is burned.
By limiting the consumption of carbohydrates and fats, the body enters a state similar to starvation and uses the body's fat reserves.
There are 4 stages in the Ducan diet: attack phase (2-10 days), cruise phase (15-330 days), consolidation (50-500 days) and stabilization (lifetime).
Attack phase
At this stage, the body begins to metabolize, and during this period, 2-3 kg of weight loss occurs within 2-10 days.
You can choose from 68 protein foods, the amount is not limited and there is no need to count calories. It can be beef, fish, chicken, eggs, soy or low-fat cottage cheese. Allowed: chicken, chicken liver, turkey, beef, lean pork, veal chops, fried veal, etc. The only allowed source of carbohydrates at this stage is 1. 5 tablespoons of oat bran.
You need to drink at least 1. 5 liters of water and exercise daily for 20 minutes.
Cruise stage
The essence of this stage is to gradually get the desired shape by adding 32 types of vegetables to the diet.
In the second stage, a person usually loses 2 kilograms a week.
As in the attack phase, you can eat starch-free vegetables such as unlimited protein, spinach, lettuce or green beans. Protein foods and vegetables should be changed daily.
Do not forget to use water (1. 5 liters per day) and 1 tbsp. oat bran.
Consolidation phase
The main task in the consolidation phase is not to lose weight, but to prevent weight gain.
You are allowed to eat unlimited amounts of protein and vegetables, low-sugar fruits, cheese and some whole grain bread.
At this stage, you can eat 1-2 servings of starch and 1-2 meals that are not on the allowed list.
During the consolidation phase, you should eat a pure protein meal one day a week, preferably every day on the same day.
Do not forget about physical activity.
Stabilization phase
This is the longest of all stages. The goal is to balance a person's nutrition forever.
You can eat everything by following simple rules. As in the attack phase, save one protein day once a week.
Eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran a day and exercise for 20 minutes every day.
